History

East Coast Fire Protection began as the brainchild of founder and president Jim Toups in 1997. In the first week of business, the company didn't have a permanent headquarters, so the five member employee team met in a Richmond, Va McDonald's. Today, the company is headquartered in Richmond, has nearly 1,200 employees, and 12 offices in 5 states, spanning the region from Maryland to Florida to Texas.

In the 10 short years since inception, ECFP has grown into one of the top life safety companies in the nation, leading the industry with both ISO (International Standards Organization) and UL (Underwriters Laboratory) certifications. According to the 2007 Book of Giants by Contractor magazine published in May 2007, ECFP is the 4th largest fire protection subcontractor in the country.

Our company has been consistently recognized in the life safety industry for maintaining excellence through rapid growth and development. ECFP's combination of experience and service enable us to reach our ultimate goal: Provide the highest quality fire protection services possible to protect lives and property.
